You tubes social impact:

  • It is a global archive so has a wide audience
  • There are options to ranking a video in which it allows anyone to share their opinion of it either critisizing or complimenting it, along with being able to comment (or even reply in your own video, as done previously before). For example parody’s.
  • YouTube internet celebrities can be made from a wide range of views and becoming noticed for a variety of different things-singing, comedy, stunts, accidents and so on.
  • Viewer’s music and programmes in interest to them are also shared so those who have that in common with eachother have the opertunity to share videos and agree on opinions and so on.
  • One person may make and share certain kinds of videos with one set of friends, while making and sharing other types of videos with a different set of friends.
  • A media circuit helps some members of a social group to stay connected or interact in qualitatively meaningful ways.
  • In the context of video sharing, posting videos that are shared with certain individuals and not others materially reflects different social configurations.

The history of You Tube

  1. The late 90s first saw the introduction of any kind of really useful applications of Web video.
  2. From 2000-2005 video over the web moved forward in a bit in which by then 9-17% of buisnesses were using web video in some way.
  3. In 2005, YouTube was launched and this meant  that video creation, publication and viewing was available to everyone .
  4. Now we have a whole range of video content online which can come in so many different formats. Video online can be interactive for example, qualifying and segmenting for your website visitors that can be used as part of adverts and to provide brilliant testimonials.
  • A mobile live streaming software called Qik allows the users to upload videos from their cell phones to the internet. The videos will then be stored online and can be shared to various social networking sites like Twitter, Facebook and YouTube.
  • Users can upload videos up to 10 minutes long and share them through YouTube or by embedding them on other websites (social networks, blogs, forums, etc.). It now allows users to upload HD videos and recently launched a service to provide TV shows and movies under license from their copyright holders.
  •  YouTube Screening Room : The Screening Room presents high quality, independent films to YouTube users and adds four new films every two weeks.
  • The availability of Channel 4 and Five content on YouTube is predicted to prove incredibly popular as series such as Skins, Green Wing, The X Factor and others become available in a simple, straightforward format on a website which already attracts millions of people every day.

  • In a bid to enhance sharing on its upcoming social network, Google has integrated its video-sharing site YouTube and its Chrome browser more deeply into Google+.
  • A motorcyclist who filmed himself driving at speeds of up to 150mph and uploaded the footage onto YouTube has received a suspended jail sentence, police said.Robert Mark Owens, 48, used a helmet-mounted video camera to record himself speeding on his Kawasaki 600cc motorbike on roads around Milton Keynes and Bletchley in Buckinghamshire on four occasions in April.
  • Justin Bieber might be the latest young artist to have taken the music scene by storm, but the pop-star’s rise to fame isn’t the most conventional. The 16-year-old Canadian first caught the radar as a YouTube star, when his mother uploaded shaky home-recordings of his performances at local events.The amateur footage caught the attention of Atlanta manager Scooter Braun who then introduced Bieber to RnB superstar Usher. Now the star’s baby-faced looks and high-pitched voice have garnered a massive following and his debut album ‘My World’ hit platinum soon after its release in November 2009.
  • Esmee Denters used to sing for youtube videos. She got noticed by Justin Timberlake after receiving millions of views on YouTube, to then receiving record companies interests, then going to the US to start her appearance. She is rising up the popularity ladder and had a great rise to fame.
  • YouTube has unveiled its latest challenge to the TV industry with the launch of 100 online channels of original programming from partners including the Wall Street Journal, Madonna, Ashton Kutcher and online magazine Slate.The launch marks Google-owned YouTube’s most significant push into high-quality content as it seeks to shift the emphasis of the world’s largest video sharing website from its roots in user-generated content.

Gavin and Stacey Outline

Gavin & Stacey is a British Comedy TV series that is a romcom and the show includes the long-distant relationship between Gavin (Mathew Horne) from Billericay in Essex, England and Stacey (Joanna Page) fromBarry in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales. The writers of the programme is, actors James Corden and Ruth Jones,  who also play the characters of  Gavin and Stacey’s friends Smithy and Nessa in the programme. Other main characters are Rob Brydon, Alison Steadman, Larry Lamb and Melanie Walters.

The show was first produced by Baby Cow Productions for BBC Wales. It ran for of twenty episodes and was broadcast between 13 May 2007 to 1 January 2010, consisting of three series and a Christmas special. At first the series was shown on digital-only channel BBC Three, but a gincrease of viewers meant that it was  moved to BBC Two, and finally BBC One. The last episodes of the final series formed a significant part of the prime time BBC seasonal programming, and were broadcast on Christmas Day 2009 and New Year’s Day 2010.

The programme was acclaimed as a  breakthrough show for BBC Three, as the most nominated show in the 2007 British Comedy Awards. It has won many awards, such as,  the British Academy Television Awards Audience Award, and the British Comedy Awards Best TV Comedy Award, both in 2008.
